PRESENTING COMPLAINT

She was started on HRT treatment a while ago. She had good benefit in the fist 2-4 years but gradually the frequency of hot flushes and night sweats increased to an uncomfortable level. She has been trying to reduce the dose of HRT due to risks attached with prolonged treatment, but has not been able to do so as any reduction in HRT dosage has resulted in worsening of her hot flushes.

She has also tried other tretements including Gabapentanoids and acupuncture without benefit.

TREATMENT FROM DR. KRISHNA AT PAIN SPA

The patient saw Dr. Krishna at his private clinic in Bristol, desperate for some improvement in her symptoms. She had done extensive research in to the role of Stellate Ganglion blocks for management of hot flushes.

Dr. Krishna performed Stellate Ganglion block under ultrasound guidance with local anaesthetic on 2 occasions, a few weeks apart. Patient has very good benefit from the treatment with significant reduction in her hot flushes as well as night sweats.

OUTCOME

4 months following treatment with Stellate ganglion block, she continues to benefit from it. She is able to have a good night sleep, after struggling for numerous years. She has also managed to reduce the dose of HRT treatment and plans to continue to do so gradually with a view to stopping it completely if possible.
